IPOH: The 29-year-old husband of a famous YouTuber was charged again at the Sessions Court here today, this time with hitting his wife on Tuesday.
The accused, M. Sugu however pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir.
According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly hit his wife, S. Pavithra, 28, using a handphone and a sickle which caused injuries to her lips, left cheek and right arm.
The offence was committed at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB)'s parking space on Tuesday between 4pm and 5pm.
The father of two was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 326A of the same code with intentionally causing injury using weapons or other dangerous objects.
Sugu is looking at a jail term of 20 years or fine, or caning, or two of any of the sentences, if he is found guilty.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Waffy Ismail prosecuted while the accused was represented by Mahinderjit Singh.
The court set RM5,000 bail and August 17 for re-mention.
Pavithra was also seen at the court room. They spoke to each other before the proceedings began.
Earlier today, Sugu was charged at the Sessions Court here with possession of an offensive weapon. He also pleaded not guilty over the charge.
Sugu was alleged to have had a 26-inch sickle in his possession at the HRPB's Palliative Ward parking space about 6pm on Tuesday.
The Sugu Pavithra YouTube channel currently has 783,000 subscribers and they are closely followed by people of various races and age groups, including subscribers from overseas.
