Cops investigating Bukit Jalil teen assault case

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating an alleged assault case involving a 15-year-old boy at the Muhibbah People's Housing Project (PPR) in Bukit Jalil, on Monday.

In the 5pm incident, the victim was allegedly attacked by two boys while a third is believed to have recorded the incident.

The video of the assault has also been making its rounds on social media, including Facebook, drawing criticism from netizens.

Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said the victim lodged a report at the Bukit Jalil police station yesterday.

He said the 30-second recording which has been widely circulated showed two boys having an altercation with the victim.

"Next thing you know, they are taking turns to kick and punch the victim until a woman intervenes and stops the suspects," he said.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the suspects were two teenagers aged 14 and 15 who were known to the complainant."

In the video, the victim did not retaliate but merely tried to avoid being hit with his hands.

"Police have opened an investigation paper on the alleged incident under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to a person," he said.
