Jalan Bangsar murder victim stabbed in the neck

KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a man discovered in the middle of Jalan Bangsar this morning had stab wounds in his neck.

The gruesome discovery led to the road being closed for an hour for the police's forensics team to carry out investigations, leading to a crawl from the KL Sentral exit.

Brickfields district police chief Asst Comm Zairulnizam Mohd Zainuddin @ Hilmi said they received a call alerting them to a man lying in the middle of the road by a member of the public at 5.38am.

"A team of policemen rushed to the scene where they discovered the victim was already dead. Checks on his person found no identification documents and we estimate he was in his 30s," he said in a statement.

Zairulnizam said the forensics team found several wounds across his body, apart from the stab wound in his neck.

"The body was sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.

"Further investigation is ongoing and police are working to trace the victim's family or next-of-kin. Those with information can contact the police," he said.

Zairulnizam informed that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The City Hall (DBKL) via its traffic information Twitter account @ITIS_TRAFIK informed road users of the road closure at 7.20am today.

A traffic cam image was shared, showing the dead body covered in white cloth in the middle of the road.
