Johor police hand over Datuk Seri Nicky's name to Interpol

BATU PAHAT: Police have submitted an application to include fugitive businessman, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee in the International Criminal Police Organisation's (Interpol) wanted list.

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said police did not rule out the possibility that Liow would attempt to leave the country illegally, to escape arrest.

"It is believed that the 33-year-old suspect is still hiding in Klang Valley but we cannot ignore his attempts of trying to escape from Malaysia," he said after a townhall programme at the Tun Hussein Onn Teacher's Education Campus Institute, here.

Ayob said police have not established his whereabouts yet, but as a precautionary measure, they have issued a notice for his arrest at all legal and illegal exits in the country.

He said the suspect has a wide network and plenty of assistance, including from those in enforcement agencies and people from high places who might help him leave the country.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said police have crippled an international organised crime group 'Geng Nicky' believed to be involved in Macau Scams and money laundering activities.

A total 68 people were arrested and cash and assets worth millions of ringgit seized in 70 raids around Selangor and the Klang Valley recently.

Meanwhile, during the townhall session, Ayob took on questions on various problems raised by the locals, especially the fishermen in the Batu Pahat, Muar and Pontian districts.

Among the problems discussed were related to trawling, licensing and crime in the waters off the west coast of Johor.
