Neelofa fined RM20k for flouting SOP at wedding and Langkawi trip

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor has been slapped with a fine of RM20,000 by the police for flouting the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the movement control order during her wedding ceremony.

The fine was for two offences, one of which was her role as the organiser of the ceremony in which she failed to ensure there was physical distancing of one metre among the attendees.

Her second offence was violating the interstate travel permit issued for her and her husband Muhammad Haris Mohd Ismail in which the duo had travelled to Langkawi and had engaged in activities outside the scope permitted by the police-issued permit.

For the Langkawi trip, Neelofa's husband who is known by the moniker PU Riz was compounded RM10,000.

In a statement by Dang Wangi district police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, the police also issued compounds of RM1,500 each to 20 of Neelofa's family members for failure to observe the one metre physical distancing rule during the wedding ceremony.
