Probe into 'nasi ganja' heli pick-up complete

IPOH: Police have completed investigation into a helicopter landing at Ipoh Padang here to pick up 36 packets of 'nasi ganja' on July 23.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said that police have submitted the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor on Friday.

"We have submitted the investigation papers to the Perak deputy public prosecutor director on Friday.

"We understand that the investigation papers have been referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) for further action.

"We have done our part and completed the investigation, so we should wait for the decision," he told reporters after attending a fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at the Indera Mulia Stadium vaccine centre (PPV) here, today.

On July 27, Mior Faridalathrash said investigations revealed the Bell 505 Global Ranger helicopter, owned by Systematic Aviation Service, had a permit to travel for maintenance work.

Mior Faridalathrash added that police recorded statements from the complainant, the owner of the nasi ganja outlet, the helicopter company owner and all individuals involved in the case.

On July 23, the helicopter landed at Ipoh Padang here to pick up an order by a customer from Kuala Lumpur.

Mior Faridalthrash had said that checks with the Ipoh Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), revealed the helicopter was only allowed to land at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS).

CAAM has also launched an investigation over the flight path of the Bell 505 helicopter.

CAAM in a statement said initial investigations revealed that the helicopter had departed from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, Selangor for Ipoh at 9.08am and had returned to the airport at 11.02am, as per the filed flight plan.
