Diners, owner compounded for SOP violation

GEORGE TOWN: Six diners, who have yet to be fully vaccinated, were issued with a RM2,000 compound each, for dining in a restaurant at Jalan Magazine here last night.

Besides the diners, who included two women, the owner of the premises was also slapped with a RM10,000 compound.

All of them were aged between 23 and 37.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong said a team of police had conducted checks at the premises about 10.50pm

"Checks through the MySejahtera app of each of the diners found that six of them have yet to be fully vaccinated for dine in.

"As such, the diners were issued with a RM2,000 compound each while the owner was issued with an RM10,000 compound for allowing diners who have yet to complete the two doses to dine in," he said today.

Soffian advised the people to continue to comply with the standard operating procedures set by the government.

"Use the lifting of restrictions given by the governments wisely and responsibly to jointly stop the spread of Covid-19.".
