Youth nabbed, meth pills worth RM100,000 seized near Rantau Panjang

PASIR MAS: The General Operations Force (GOF) detained a teenager at Kampung Gual Pasung Hantu near Rantau Panjang last night and seized 10,000 methamphetamine pills worth about RM100,000.

GOF Eighth Battalion assistant commander Deputy Superintendent Ramesh K. Krishnan said the 19-year-old boy was picked up during a patrol at the area about 11.30pm.

"The team spotted him walking along the road and ordered him to stop for inspection.

"He tried to escape but the team managed to apprehend him. The team then found four packages containing the pills," he said in a statement.

Ramesh said initial investigations showed the drugs had been smuggled into the state from a neighbourimg country.

"We believe the pills are being brought in via an illegal jetty along the border."

He said the pills were likely meant for distribution among local addicts.
