Police arrest Thai man, seize 20,000 meth pills in Rantau Panjang

KOTA BARU: Police have arrested a Thai national and seized 20,000 methamphetamine pills worth nearly RM130,000 in Rantau Panjang yesterday.

Kelantan police chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the man was detained by the roadside near Kampung Lubok Jong.

He said a police party spotted him carrying a bag, when they passed the area about 1.50pm.

"After searching the man's bag, the officers discovered four packages of the tablets, known locally as Yaba.

"They then detained the 31-year-old foreigner," he said.

Zaki said the initial investigation showed that the suspect, who tested positive for drugs, had smuggled the pills from his country.

"Police suspect the pills were for distribution to local addicts," he added.

The man, he said, had been remanded for seven days to assist police investigation into the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Drug Dangerous Act 1952.
