KUALA LUMPUR: A babysitter has claimed trial to neglecting a three-month-old baby girl leading to her death.
Nor Malisa Mansor, 39, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her before Sessions Court Judge Isralizam Sanusi.
According to the charge sheet, Nor Malisa, who was entrusted to care for the baby, had neglected the victim between 11am to 1pm, on Aug 9 at Fasa 8, Precinct 9, Putrajaya.
She was charged under Section 31(1)(a) Child Act 2001, which carries 20 years maximum jail, RM50,000 fine, or both upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Aiman Azahan applied for RM10,000 bail but Nor Malisa, who was not represented, pleaded for a lesser amount as she was looking after her three other children.
Judge Isralizam Sanusi then fixed RM4,000 bail and set Sept 28 for mention.
