Police to summon Rafizi over remarks claiming Latiff's second wife involved in LCS case

KUALA LUMPUR: A special officer to Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad has lodged a police report in regard to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli's allegations that the second wife of the minister was involved in the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai today said police would summon the former Pandan member of parliament soon to have his statement recorded to assist in the investigation.

He said police received a report from a 30-year-old man, who is the special officer of the minister, at 9.28pm yesterday.

"When the complainant was at home in Residensi Harmoni 2, Segambut, on Aug 22, he read an article on Rafizi's blog, rafiziramli.com, allegedly aimed at tarnishing Datuk Latiff's image.

"The man denied that Datuk Latiff has a second wife who secured the multi-million ringgit LCS contract when he was the then deputy (defence) minister."

Beh said police checks showed that the related statement was published on Rafizi's blog and his Facebook account on different dates.

"Rafizi also posted two videos on his TikTok and Instagram accounts on Aug 25."

Beh said police were investigating the case under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Rafizi on social media and in various statements had claimed that one Zainab Mohd Salleh was involved in the LCS scandal and that the woman was Latiff's second wife.

Latiff has twice denied that he has a wife by that name, but Rafizi has stuck to his guns and challenged the minister to seek legal action.
