GE15: 39 police reports, six investigation papers opened

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police have received 39 police reports from Oct 26 until yesterday, for various offences involving the 15th General Election (GE15).

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said, based on that number, as many as six investigation papers had been opened for further action.

He said that for the approval of campaign permits, the Sabah police had approved a total of 369 permits over the course of three days beginning Nov 5.

"A total of 178 election campaign permits were approved for the entire Sabah contingent within 24 hours.

"As a result of the inspection, all campaigns carried out have permits and do not violate the campaign conditions," he said in a media statement today.

In this regard, Idris said, the police had advised all political parties contesting to apply for permit approval first before starting any campaigns and speeches.

He said they were also advised to comply with the permit conditions set, including no elements of provocation, defamation and racism.

"Also make sure that all the supporters maintain good behaviour and to not break the law or start a fight.

"Supporters who attend campaigns or talks are also advised to obey traffic rules," he said.
