BENTONG: Police insisted that there was no favouritism in discharging their duties of upholding the law regardless of a person's status and social standing.
Bentong District Police chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, said that they would enforce the law without taking into account the person's status.
He was speaking in response to a picture of a vehicle believed to be that of the Pahang state legislative assembly deputy speaker which broke the law and went viral on the Kami Penduduk Bentong (Official) Facebook page yesterday (Feb 6).
"The picture showed the vehicle involved coming out from the Golden Court junction, Jalan Tras Bentong to the main road.
"The vehicle was already in the wrong for ignoring the stipulated traffic rules by blatantly entering a 'no entry' road.
"The said vehicle will be summoned under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act of 1987," he said.
Zaiham urged members of the public not to make any speculation over the incident and stressed, affirmed that police will not compromise with any individuals who break the law.
