Man, woman arrested less than 24 hours after robbing family

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a man and a woman less than 24 hours after they were believed to have robbed a family in USJ9 of more than RM7,000.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a woman had lodged a report claiming two persons had broken into her house.

"The 43-year-old woman was woken up at 3.30am by a man who pointed a machete at her. He then tied her hands with a phone charger cable.

"He also tied the hands of the complainant's father before taking them down to the ground floor.

"The suspect's friend, a woman, was waiting downstairs. She bound the maid's hands," he said in a statement today.

Wan Azlan said the duo ransacked the house and took jewellery, mobile phones and cash worth RM7,000. They fled in a car driven by the man.

"The investigation also found that the suspect, who was wearing a face mask and gloves, climbed the wall of the house and entered through an open window on the upper floor."

He said police were examining CCTV footage in the nearby area.

Wan Azlan said a police team raided two places in Klang and Kuala Langat and arrested two suspects. Policemen also seized the car that was used in the robbery.

Police believe they have solved the robbery and burglaries in the district with the arrests.

He said both suspects would be brought to court today for a remand application.
