CHUKAI: A newborn baby was discovered alive on the floor of a chicken shop in Jabur Kubur, near Jalan Air Putih today.
The baby girl still had her umbilical cord attached and is believed to have been born within the past three or four days, and was found by the shop owner at 7:50 am.
Kemaman District Police Chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan stated that the baby was found by the shop owner while they were preparing to open for business.
The infant, weighing approximately 3.2 kilograms, was immediately taken to Hospital Kemaman for further examination.
"The baby is in good health, and we are actively searching for the suspect who abandoned her," he said during a press conference at the Operations Control Center in Balai Polis Air Putih today.
Hanyan mentioned that they have contacted both public and private clinics in the district, urging them to inform the police immediately if they receive any patients who had recently given birth to a baby.
He added, "The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth."
