Police nab two men, seize about RM400,000 worth of drugs

TANAH MERAH: Police have detained two men for possession of syabu and methamphetamine pills worth almost RM400,000 in separate operations yesterday.

Tanah Merah police chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah said the two were arrrested in a special operation codenamed Ops Tapis carried out by the district's narcotics criminal investigation team.

In the first operation, he said police detained a man in a raid at Batu 11 here.

"In the 6pm raid at a house, police discovered 200 methamphetamine pills and 184 gm of syabu and later arrested the suspect," he said in a statement.

Mohd Haki said the two drugs seized from the 46-year-old suspect was worth about RM38,600.

"Police investigation showed that the suspect who tested positive for drugs, has three previous records," he added.

Mohd Haki said the second suspect was arrested at Batu Gajah about 6.45pm.

"The man was riding a motorcycle when stopped by the police. Upon checking, police found 36,000 methamphetamine pills on him.

"The pills weighing about 4.48kg were worth about RM360,000. The suspect has four previous records and also tested positive in an urine test," he said.

He added the two men, both locals, were being held for further action.
