GERIK: Police have arrested a 41-year-old man who allegedly raped his 11-year-old stepdaughter since three years ago.
Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said police arrested the man on Thursday after the girl lodged a report at 12.30pm.
Mohd Yusri said the man reportedly raped the girl since she was nine-year-old, and the last time it happened was in a hut in a farm area near Air Ganda here last Tuesday.
"The victim has already been examined by a paediatrician at the Taiping Hospital.
"The examination results found two old tear marks on the girl's genitals," he said, adding that the man had been remanded for a week until next Thursday to facilitate investigation.
He added that the investigation paper would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions as soon as the investigation is completed.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape which provides imprisonment between eight and 30 years and whipping.
