Three men nabbed for possessing revolver, drugs

KOTA BARU: Three men were arrested for the possession of drugs and a revolver worth more than RM7,000 in two separate operations yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the three were detained in Tumpat and Pasir Mas.

He said they were nabbed by a General Operations Force (GOF) team from the Seventh Battalion who were conducting Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan along the border.

In the first operation, GOF members detained two men on the possession of one litre of cough mixture believed to contain codeine.

"The GOF member stopped a Toyota Vios with two men when it passed Simpangan, Tumpat about 2am yesterday.

"After checking inside the car, the GOF members found one litre of cough mixture believed to contain codeine worth about RM150," he said in a statement.

In a follow-up operation at 4am, Zaki said the GOF members raided at house in Pasir Mas where they discovered a Smith & Wesson revolver with six bullets.

"Also found inside the house were 149 methamphetamine pills, cannabis (14gm), Epam (1,100), all worth more than RM5,000.

"They then arrested the two suspects, aged 17 and 28, with one tested positive for drugs," he added.

He said one of the suspects also had a previous crime record.

He then said the same team later raided another house in Kampung Padang Tola near Pasir Mas.

"In the 5.30am raid, the GOF members arrested the third suspect, a 50-year-old man.

"Further checks inside the house, they discovered 4.95gm heroin and 30 methamphetamine pills and the two drugs worth nearly RM2,500," he added.

Zaki said the three suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations into the case.
