Company owner fined RM10,000 over false claim

KUALA LUMPUR: A 40-year-old man was fined RM10,000 at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today for making a false claim to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) worth RM2,400.

Wan Ahmad Hasbullah Wan Mahamud Shudi pleaded guilty when the charge was read before Judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud.

Awang ordered the fine and in default four months' jail.

The offence under Section 417 of the Penal Code carries a maximum five-year imprisonment.

Wan Ahmad Hasbullah was accused of cheating Perkeso's employment services officer Luqman Hakim Ismail into giving him the money as the latter was under the impression that one person, listed in Data Penjana 1.0, was still on the payroll of the accused's company Syarikat Smarts Millionz Sdn Bhd.

This is while the accused had been aware that the person was no longer working with the company.

The offence was allegedly committed at CIMB Cyberjaya on Dec 2, 2020.

Deputy public prosecutor Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin and prosecutor Mohd Aliff Shaharuzaman prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel M. Hafiz Zainol Abidin.
