Woman caught with nearly RM200,000 worth of drugs in Pasir Puteh

KOTA BARU: A 31-year-old woman suspected to be a drug dealer, landed herself in trouble after being caught for the possession of nearly RM200,000 worth of drugs yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the woman was arrested in a raid at Kampung Cherang Ruku in Pasir Puteh

"A police team raided a house in Kampung Cherang Ruku at about 9.25am based on public tip-offs on drug activity.

"After checking the house and inside a car parked outside it, police discovered 94 small plastic bottles containing heroin and 1,000 methamphetamine pills.

"They then detained the woman who is a local and seized the car worth RM30,000," he told a Press conference here today.

Zaki said initial investigations showed that the heroin and the pills worth about RM199,000 were for local distribution.

"Police believe the drugs were smuggled into Kelantan via a neighbouring country and were for the consumption of about 6,300 drug addicts," he added.

He said police are investigating whether the suspect is a member of a drug syndicate.

"We need to carry out further investigation on this case to check whether other individuals are in cahoots with the suspect," he added.

He said the woman has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigation into the case.

He added the case is being investigated under Section 39B of Drugs Dangerous Act 1952.
