Cops seize two firearms, bullets in raid on jobless man's home in Kuala Krai

KOTA BARU: Police arrested a 31-year-old jobless man and seized two guns and five bullets in an operation yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the suspect was detained at a house in Kampung Pasir Kelang in Kuala Krai.

"A police party raided the house at 7.30pm based on a tip-off. On checking the premises, they found a shotgun, pistol and bullets.

"They arrested the suspect, who tested positive for drugs," he told a press conference here today.

Zaki said police were investigating the motive of the suspect over the possession of the weapons.

Meanwhile, he said police were searching for two men who escaped during an anti-crime operation in Pengkalan Chepa yesterday morning.

"The police party had earlier spotted a suspicious- looking car at Jalan Panji about 3.30am. The driver on spotting the police patrol car accelerated.

"In the high-speed chase that ensued, an occupant in the car opened fire at the police patrol car crew but luckily no one was injured.

"The two men managed to evade arrest. Police have identified the car owner and his passenger and we will nab them soon," he added.
