JOHOR BARU: A teenager has been hauled to the Sessions Court here today to face a charge of sexually assaulting his nine-year-old sister in July.
However, the 18-year-old boy pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before Judge Siti Noraida Sulaiman.
The teenager, who is unemployed, was charged with committing the offence at their home in Masai here at about 3am.
The charge was framed under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same act.
The charge carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Edelynn Wong prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented.
No bail was offered to the accused and the court has fixed December 21 for mention date.
