Cops arrest man and seize RM600k worth of drugs in raid on apartment in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man and seized various types of drugs worth RM652,100 in a special operation at an apartment in Jalan Kuchai Maju 13, here, yesterday.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the raid was mounted by a team of policemen from the district police headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) at an apartment in Taman Entrepreneurs.

He said, during the raid, a 25-year-old man was arrested with 8.16kg of methamphetamine and 5.37kg of ketamine hidden inside the premises.

"The total amount of seized drugs can be supplied to 28,000 drug users. Also confiscated were tools used to process drugs," he said.

Amihizam added that a preliminary urine screening test found the suspect to be negative for drugs, adding however that the man has a criminal record.

"The suspect will be remanded for five days until Nov 9 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking.

"The Brickfields NCID is still conducting intelligence gathering and investigations to identify the members of the syndicate involved and the source of the supplies obtained."

Amihizam urged members of the public who have any information related to the drug seizure to channel the information to the police at 03-22979222 extension 553 to assist in the investigation.

"Cooperation from the community is greatly appreciated to curb and eliminate drug trafficking activities, especially in the administrative area under the Brickfields police headquarters," he said.
