Arau police seize RM25,000 worth of drugs, arrest a man from Changlun

ARAU: Police have arrested a man from Changlun, Kedah yesterday following the seizure of methamphetamine and heroin weighing over a kilogramme worth RM25,000 in a car at Taman Tengku Budriah here last month.

Arau police chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said in the Nov 27 incident, a police team during a patrol round spotted two men behaving suspiciously in a Proton Satria at the Arau Expressway about 1.40am.

He said the policemen tailed the car towards the Pauh exit but the driver suddenly sped off when he was ordered to pull over.

"The suspect then drove towards Taman Tengku Budriah, prompting the patrol team to call for reinforcement from the motorcycle patrol team.

"The suspect finally pulled over in Lorong Tengku Budriah 6 and two men jumped out of the car and fled into the nearby bushes," he said in a statement today.

Mohsin said upon inspecting the car, the police team found four packets of methamphetamine weighing 199.80gm and three packets of heroin weighing 898.10gm with a street value of RM25,000.

He said following the seizure, police have tracked down one of the two men and arrested him at a house in Kampung Padang Limau, Tunjang in Jitra on Sunday.

He added that the 42-year-old man who hailed from Taman Teja, Changlun tested positive for drugs.

"Based on background checks, the suspect has records for drug abuse since 1999 and he had just received 224gm of heroin supply worth about RM3,000 three days prior to the Nov 27 incident.

"He is the last known owner of the Proton Satria but the vehicle is still registered under the previous owner's name," he said.
