MACC nabs enforcement officer for RM30,000 bribe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) detained an enforcement officer for soliciting bribes of around RM30,000 from a company related to a forged documents case recently.

The man in his 40's was arrested at a cafe near Subang Jaya yesterday.

According to sources, the officer reportedly contacted a company owner last month and asked for the amount for the publication of a bulletin carried out by the company concerned for a government department.

He asked the bribe money to cover up the offense made by the company for using false documents to obtain sponsorship for the publication of the bulletin.

The man was brought to Shah Alam Magistrate Court today morning and Magistrate Mohamed Redza Azhar Rezali approved a three-day remand until Nov 9 to assist with the investigation.

Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrest and the case is being investigated under Section 16 (a) (B) of the MACC Act.
