Computer store owners fined RM14,000 for making false claims

KUALA LUMPUR: The owner of a local computer store has been slapped with multiple charges for making false claims worth RM85,500.

The 29-year-old man was slapped with two charges under Section 19 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and another two alternate charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code.

He pleaded guilty on both alternate charges that saw him being slapped with RM6,000 fine for the first alternate charge and an RM8,000 fine for the second.

His sentence was meted out by judge Tuan Azhar Othman at the Kuala Terengganu Section 1 court today.

The man was unrepresented.

It is learnt that in June 2021, the man submitted a fraudulent Employee Registration Form for the Hiring Incentive Program, listing names of non-existent employees in order to claim an incentive amounting to RM85,500 under the programme.
