Boy swearing, accusing police of bribery in viral video now arrested

BAGAN SERAI: The police have arrested a teenage boy for hurling profanities and accusing the authorities of accepting a sum of money through a video posted on social media platform, TikTok.

Kerian district police chief Superintendent Juna Yusoff said a report was lodged regarding the video and an immediate investigation was conducted by the police on the matter.

He added that the 14-year-old teenager, alongside his 17-year-old friend who uploaded the video, has been detained by the police to assist police in the investigation.

"The investigation revealed that the suspect has been detained previously for investigations into several criminal offences.

"Following this, the police advise the public to not act impulsively based on emotions if charged with any offences.

"If you are dissatisfied with the actions taken (by the authorities), use proper channels to ensure that there are no offences committed as well as challenge the enforcement institutions in carrying out their duties and responsibilities," he said in a statement.

Previously, a 37-second clip had gone viral on TikTok, which saw the teenage boy hurling profanities and accused the police of accepting some money after several summons were imposed on him.

Meanwhile, Juna said the case is currently being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He added that a motorcycle was also seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
