Driver of Perodua Bezza involved in high-speed chase recently to be charged today

KUALA LUMPUR: The driver of Perodua Bezza who was involved in a high-speed chase with 28 police mobile patrol vehicles will be charged at the Petaling Jaya's court this morning. A source close to the investigation confirmed this when contacted.

On Tuesday, Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said in a statement that the police received information from a police patrol car regarding a pursuit involving a Perodua Bezza on North Road, Petaling Jaya, heading towards the Cyberjaya Lake roundabout.

"Our officers were alerted by a police patrol car that a Perodua Bezza had evaded a police inspection on North Road, Petaling Jaya, and entered the Federal Highway towards Shah Alam.

"Upon reaching PJS 6/1 Sungei Way, motorcycle patrol unit members had attempted to stop the suspect's vehicle but they were rammed, resulting in injuries to the officers involved.

"A total of 28 police patrol cars, along with personnel from Petaling Jaya D4 Crime Investigation Department were deployed to pursue the suspect over a distance of approximately 50km," he said.

Upon inspection of the suspect's vehicle, driven by a local male with a local female passenger, authorities discovered a knife, a pair of scissors, a set of gloves, a cycling helmet, an identification card belonging to another individual, and four debit cards.

In a viral video of the incident, approximately 28 police patrol vehicles from a number of police district headquarters- including 18 from Petaling Jaya, where the chase started-went in hot pursuit of the Perodua Bezza to Cyberjaya.

During the process of apprehending the suspects, two men managed to escape, while the other man and woman were detained.
