Police to record Kit Siang's statement on Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will record a statement from veteran politician Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang this Wednesday, following the posting of a statement on his blog that touched on constitutional issues regarding the appointment of a Malaysian prime minister.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Deputy Director (Investigation/Legal) Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said it had carried out an investigation into the content of the political veteran's writing which was uploaded on the limkitsiang.com blog on Nov 30 entitled 'Malaysian constitution provides for a Malaysian dream and not a mono-ethnic dream as it provides that a non-Malay can be a prime minister'.

"The recording of the statement will be taken by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit, Prosecution/Legal Division (D5), Criminal Investigation Department, Bukit Aman under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

"The case is still under investigation and the public is advised not to make any speculations that could interfere with the investigation process," he said in a statement today.
