Inspector Sheila yet to file representation in seeking public nuisance charge dropped

KUALA LUMPUR: Police officer Inspector Sheila, who gained viral attention on social media, is undecided on filing for representation to seek the dismissal of public nuisance charges against her.

Her lawyer M. Manoharan said the defence had yet to receive the complete documentation on the case from prosecution.

"During the last mention, we received several documents from the prosecution team and have yet to receive the remaining, with the next mention set for Jan 15.

"This is a petty case, but we're still studying it to decide whether or not to file representation," he told reporters after the proceeding before magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan.

Present was deputy public prosecutor Zuhairi Osman.

On Nov 8, Sheila, whose real name is Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, was accused of committing public nuisance by honking repeatedly and screaming at the scene, causing public distress to Nuraihan Nadzifah Ibrahim.

The offence is alleged to have occurred near the parking lot at a shopping mall in Brickfields at 5.26pm on June 16.

The offence under Section 268 of the Penal Code and carries a maximum fine of RM400 upon conviction.

On June 26, the 35-year-old who had since been suspended from the force, was charged with making criminal threats with an intention to intimidate a 69-year-old woman at a restaurant located in Taman Sri Gombak, within the Gombak district on June 15 around noon.

This charge was framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of two years' jail and a fine.

She was also charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code with insulting the modesty of a 41-year-old Lance Corporal Abdul Arif Farhan Abdul Raz.

The offence carries a maximum penalty of five-year imprisonment and a fine.

Subsequently, Sheila was accused of intimidating a male police officer of the rank of lance corporal with intent to insult his modesty around 1.25pm also at the same location and date with the previous charges.

Trial for the three offences has been set for Feb 5 next year.
