No decision on representation, Inspector Sheila to go on trial for alleged public nuisance

KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial policewoman Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar will go on trial for allegedly causing public nuisance at a shopping mall carpark in Brickfields in June last year.

Magistrate Ili Marisqa Khalizan set a two-day trial starting June 10 to hear the case of Sheila, 36, who was accused of repeatedly honking and screaming at the scene, causing distress to Nuraihan Nadzifah Ibrahim.

The court set the trial dates pending the decision of a Feb 20 representation sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) by Sheila's counsel, M.Mahoharan, who sought for the charge under Section 268 of the Penal Code to be dismissed.

During proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Hamizah Hisan told the magistrate that the A-GC has yet to decide on the representation.

"It is still being reviewed by the A-GC and therefore, we seek for trial dates to be fixed," she said.

Magistrate Ili Marisqa, aside from setting the trial dates, also set May 16 to hear the decision of the representation.

Met outside the courtroom, Manoharan said the representation should be accepted and the charge should be withdrawn.

"This is a frivolous charge that should be dropped. She should be acquitted and discharged. I do not know why they (A-GC) is taking some time (with the representation).

"I have put in a detailed representation with regard to the charge.

"If the representation is accepted, then the trial will not go on," he said.

Sheila, who had since been suspended from the force, allegedly committed the offence at 5.26pm on June 16 last year.

It carries a fine of up to RM400 upon conviction.
