Body in parked car: Police seek public help to locate next-of-kin

PETALING JAYA: Police are seeking help from the public to locate the next of kin of a man who was found dead inside a parked car at the Kota Damansara car boot sale yesterday.

Deputy district police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said so far police have classified the case as suicide and are in the midst of trying to locate the deceased family.

He said this is following the discovery of burnt charcoal inside the car.

"The deceased in his 40s, is believed to have been dead for over five days.

"The Kota Damansara Police Station received a report regarding the death of a local man at 12.04pm.

"Preliminary investigations found that the victim was found unconscious in a Perodua Bezza car," he said in a statement today.

He said that thus far the investigation has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR).

The shocking incident came to light when an attendee participating in a car boot sale in Damansara shared the distressing discovery on X (formerly Twitter).

The attention-grabbing moment occurred when a visitor noticed the bloated figure inside the vehicle.

Inside the car, on the dashboard, a note accompanied by a copy of the deceased's identification card was discovered.

The poignant message read: "Please call my brother or my sister."

He asked those with information related to the case to contact the Kota Damansara Police Station chief ASP Mohd Nasir Mustapha at 011-32052062 or any of the nearest police stations.
