Security guard discharges pump gun by accident

KUALA LUMPUR: A security guard has been arrested after he accidentally fired from his pump gun at a financial centre in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya near here this morning.

Nobody was injured as the shell hit the floor near the glass door, which shattered, at the main entrance of the premises.

A team from the Petaling Jaya district police was deployed to the scene after receiving information from the public over the incident at 10.15am.

Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said urine test conducted on the suspect, in his 50s, turned out negative for drug abuse.

"The case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960," he said in a statement today.
