'Policemen are human beings too'

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman who creates TikTok videos hopes to educate the public about doing good and helping people, while spreading awareness that policemen are human beings too.

"I want to help people, so I make feel good videos to show the policemen are normal human beings too, said Corporal Muhamad Nur Shahrul Andhar Rosmi who is attached with the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit.

"Members of the public must realise that policemen are normal human beings too who also make mistakes. If someone makes a mistake or does something wrong, it's not fair to just criticise them," he told Harian Metro.

Although the content on his TikTok account has reached one million views, the 32-year old policeman says he's not making the videos to show off.

"I do not want to boast and this is why I never show my face or how I look like in my videos that I upload.

"For me, when I see happy faces among those who have been helped in one way or another, It is motivation for me to keep on doing good to others and helping others out.

The father of two said that he is determined to keep on producing and making videos and content even though he has received some negative feedback from netizens following some negative publicity recently about the police force.

According to him, he always tries to think positively and hopes that his actions and the way he carries himself will influence viewers and his followers to do good and be good to one another.

"At first I was sceptical and had my doubts about creating content because I did not want any issues or problems.

"When I think back, I hope that the videos I make about helping people will improve the image and reputation of the police force among members of the public," he said.

According to him, he began serving at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters after completing his training in 2015 and was assigned to the MPV Unit in the same district since 2020.

He first shared content on his TikTok account since the middle of last year and it since garnered positive feedback.

"I do not mind if anyone wants to download or share the videos as it is my hope to steer and influence members of the public to do good," he said.
