Authorities warn against spreading unverified claims on Lukut police officer

PORT DICKSON: Authorities told the public to refrain from sharing information related to a high-ranking officer in the Lukut police station.

Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed emphasised that individuals involved in such misconduct may face legal consequences under the Penal Code and the Multimedia Communications Act.

"On Dec 25, at approximately 1.15 pm yesterday, a statement surfaced on a Telegram group implicating the Lukut police station chief in alleged harassment and the sending of explicit messages to a woman.

"Initial investigations have indicated that the statement is baseless and is suspected to be a malicious accusation intended to undermine the credibility of the Lukut police chief and tarnish the image of the force," he said in a statement today.

Currently, the police have not received any formal reports from the implicated individual or the purported victim mentioned in the Telegram group.

"Nevertheless, a comprehensive investigation will be conducted to assess any disciplinary infractions, and decisive measures will be taken if any violations are confirmed.

"The police advise the public against spreading this issue, as legal action can be pursued under the Penal Code and the Multimedia Communications Act," he cautioned.
