Military husband faces probe: Melaka police respond to viral domestic violence clip

SUNGAI UDANG: Melaka police have opened an investigation into a viral video showing a military personnel allegedly assaulting his wife in a flat in Sungai Udang.

Melaka police chief, Datuk Wira Zainol Samah, said that the 32-second video had gone viral since yesterday through a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Zainol, police investigation revealed that the incident occurred on Dec 15, and a police report was received from a 38-year-old woman who claimed to have been beaten by her 25-year-old military husband.

"The investigation also found that the victim's husband works at a camp in Sungai Udang, and the incident took place in a flat in that area. So far, the police have summoned the man for a recorded statement to assist in the investigation," he said in a media statement.

He mentioned that based on the victim's report, they have initiated an investigation under Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 and Section 323 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, based on the recording, a woman's voice can be heard pleading with her husband to calm down and resolve the issue between them amicably.

"Abang (dear), please, abang... please don't... it hurts, don't...," she said.

However, her husband, wearing a complete uniform, remained adamant and shouted, directing his wife to enter the house.

Surprisingly, the man is also accused of threatening to kill his wife, and he is seen holding something and pointing it at the victim.

Several neighbours can be seen trying to defuse the situation, but they are ignored by the man.
