Rapid KL responds to viral video of leaning bus [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of the Rapid KL bus service in Klang Valley, has taken note of the video of a leaning bus that is trending on social media.

The video shows a bus on route 202 carrying three passengers from Wira Damai heading to Lebuh Ampang via Gombak.

In a statement on Rapid KL's Facebook, it said the bus captain had already detected the condition of the bus that had started to lean and immediately took the decision to stop the bus at the nearest bus stop to unload its passengers and seek technical assistance from the Operations Control Centre.

The Rapid Bus Operations Control Centre found that the bus was not fit for operation due to the "air bellow suspension" that leaked in the tyres during operation.

The bus ended the service immediately and the route was resumed by the next bus.

"Why are buses still running in this state? Have you previously performed any maintenance?

"When will the bus be replaced with new ones?

"In such circumstances, how can you encourage people to use public transport?" these were some of the comments from netizens accompanying the video.

Rapid KL also apologised for the inconvenience and assured passengers that their safety and comfort is a priority, and Rapid Bus will not operate buses that do not meet safety standards.
