Police launch manhunt for armed robbers in Klang traffic light heist [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are hunting two suspects who were involved in an armed robbery using a baseball bat and a parang of a car driver while he had stopped at a busy traffic light intersection in Klang on Friday evening.

Klang Selatan deputy police chief Kamalariffin Aman Shah said during the 2.50pm incident, the victim had just withdrawn an amount of money from an ATM machine at a bank in Jalan Meru, Klang.

He said the man who was driving a black Mercedes-Benz then headed to Bukit Tinggi, Klang, before being approached by two masked suspects when he stopped at Persiaran Pegaga.

"One of the suspects armed with a baseball bat broke the front passenger mirror, while another armed with a parang broke the driver's side mirror.

"The suspect then forced the victim to hand over his laptop bag before fleeing in a grey Toyota Yaris car," he said in statement.

He said the victim suffered a broken finger and scratches on his right arm, in addition to losing RM6,000 due to the loss of his laptop and damage to both of his car's mirrors.

Kamalariffin said the police would mobilise their workforce so that the suspect could be arrested soon.

The public who has information of the incident is asked to contact the South Klang District Police Headquarters via 03-33772222 or to drop by any nearby police station to assist in the investigation.

A video of two masked men dressed in black robbing a Mercedes-Benz car which had stopped on a road crowded with vehicles had been making rounds online.

The suspect, who was armed with a parang and a baseball bat, was seen breaking the window of the vehicle before fleeing with the victim's laptop bag.
