Police detain individual for alleged sexual assault on 16-year-old boy

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have detained a 42-year-old individual for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy at a hotel on Jalan Sultan, here.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said they received a police report from the boy on Jan 12 at approximately 2.48am regarding the incident.

"In the ongoing investigation, police detained the individual believed to be involved in the case in front of a hotel on Jalan Sultan, here.

"During the investigation, the police discovered that the teenage boy was not abducted, as initially reported.

"Instead, he had left his home in Hulu Bernam, Selangor, leading to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case," he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

"The detained individual has been remanded for seven days, from Jan 13 to Jan 19.

"The investigation is still ongoing, and the police urge the public to cooperate and provide information related to this incident.
