Police still searching for one of two missing teen brothers in sexual assault case

HULU SELANGOR: Police are still searching for one of the two brothers reported missing from the Taman Bernam Jaya residential mosque in Hulu Bernam on the morning of Jan 1.

Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said they are still trying to locate the 16-year-old teenager with the assistance of Kuala Lumpur police.

"We are still making efforts to locate his brother. As of last night, the Criminal Investigation Department has found some leads.

"We are optimistic about finding this teenager based on the investigations and captures we have made," he told reporters after an event at the Royal Malaysia Police College in Kuala Kubu Baru today.

On Jan 11, the media reported that a 17-year-old teenager, who is the missing boy's older brother, was found in a weak state at the Pasar Seni LRT Station in Kuala Lumpur.

The two brothers had been last seen at their home in Taman Bernam Jaya, Hulu Bernam after they returned from morning prayers at the neighbourhood mosque that day.

Their mother told Bernama yesterday that her older son, affectionately known as Along, had claimed that an unknown individual kept him and his 16-year-old brother in a motel in Jalan Petaling here.

"Along claimed that they were kept in a room until Jan 9 before being separated. However, he managed to escape when the man fell asleep after taking drugs. He also managed to escape with the man's mobile phone.

"Along then took the police to the place and I was made to understand that a man had been arrested in connection with the disappearance of my two children," she told Bernama when contacted yesterday.

Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid had said that they arrested a 42-year-old suspect for allegedly sexually assaulting the teenager boy at a hotel on Jalan Sultan, here.

He had said they received a police report from the boy on Jan 12 at approximately 2.48am regarding the incident.

He said the victim claimed to have been molested and subjected to indecent acts by an individual at a hotel in Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

On the search on Along's younger brother, Mohd Asri said a search yesterday included the area around Jalan Petaling, including a nearby shopping centre.

"Yesterday, we searched around the Jalan Petaling area up to Kota Raya, based on investigations into the suspect.

"He (the victim) had been separated a day before the Dang Wangi IPD conducted a raid on the hotel," he said.
