KLANG: A man is believed to have slashed his wife several times with a knife in a car in front of a condominium in Kota Bayu Emas near here yesterday afternoon, before harming himself with the knife later.
The incident is believed to have occured after the couple had a disagreement.
The 50-year-old man was later found unconscious in a car with several cuts on his body.
Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said police received a report from the public about a man stabbing a woman at 1.41pm.
Initial investigations found that the couple were a married couple.
"Around 1pm, the suspect and the 49-year-old victim got into a car to go to a restaurant and there was a disagreement between them. The suspect stopped the car on the road shoulder.
"The suspect then proceeded to slash the victim several times using a knife before the victim managed to get out of the car to seek help.
"When a car stopped to provide assistance, the suspect continued to flee in his his vehicle," Cha said in a statement yesterday.
He said, acting on information, the Klang Selatan police headquarters patrol car then located and found the suspect's car at Jalan Batu Nilam 34, Bandar Bukit Tinggi near here.
"The police found the suspect unconscious in the car and broke the window to open the car door to save the suspect, together with the help of paramedics.
"The suspect is believed to have harmed himself. There were several cuts on his body including on his neck, shoulders, hands, legs and back.
"The suspect, covered in blood, was taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for examination and further treatment," he said.
Commenting further, Cha said police have opened investigation papers according to Section 324 of the Penal Code, for causing injury using a weapon.
