Police station and 12 GOF posts flooded in Kelantan, but still operational

KOTA BARU: Sixteen enforcement facilities, including a police station and General Operations Force posts have been inundated in the latest wave of the floods in Kelantan.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the 16 facilities comprised a police station, 12 GOF posts and three roadblocks.

He said the affected police station is in Rantau Panjang, which is submerged in 0.3m-deep floodwaters.

He said the GOF posts and roadblocks were all located along the Golok river and they were inundated by between 0.4m to 2.5m of floodwaters.

Zaki said among the affected posts and roadblocks are Terusan, Pak Teh Kana, Salleh Berek, Ibrahim Pencen, Serongga and Bukit Lata.

"However, operations at the police station and posts are still resuming as usual," he said in a statement.

The number of flood victims in Kelantan continued to increase this morning with 4,039 people being evacuated.

The victims from 1,265 families are taking shelter at 14 relief centres in two districts.

As of 10am, the two affected districts are Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah.

As at 10.45am, only the Golok river in Rantau Panjang measured above its danger level.

The level at the river was at 10.36m, which is 1.36m above its danger mark of 9m.

Another part of the Golok river in Tumpat and Kelantan river in Kuala Krai also remained above their alert marks this morning.
