4 cops nabbed for consuming ketum at Taman Tan Yew Lai house in Puchong

KUALA LUMPUR: Four policemen attached to the Brickfields district police headquarters here have been detained for consuming ketum at a house in Taman Tan Yew Lai.

A team of officers from Bukit Aman's Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) raided the house at Jalan 9B, Off Batu 6 Jalan Puchong at 2.15am on Thursday, before making the arrests.

Checks showed that three of the four arrested were attached to the Petaling police station while the other policeman was attached to the serious crimes investigation unit, D9 Brickfields.

All four suspects, aged between 25 to 50, have been arrested for investigation under Section 30 (3) of the Poison Act 1952.

City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid when contacted confirmed the arrest of the four.

"Those arrested have been remanded to facilitate police investigations," he said, without elaborating on the case.

It is learnt that the four may also face disciplinary action or even suspension if found guilty of the offence.
