Man plunges from 17th floor balcony after stabbing wife

KUALA LUMPUR: An argument between a husband and wife ended in tragedy when one of them died after falling from the 17th floor of a condominium.

In the incident which occurred yesterday at around 11.15am, an Indonesian married couple, aged 44 and 37 respectively, were believed to have fought due to a misunderstanding.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said during the altercation, the husband allegedly stabbed his wife in the chest before reportedly running towards the balcony and jumping from the 17th floor of the condominium unit.

"The suspect was found dead near the swimming pool on the lower floor of the condominium, while his wife was injured due to being stabbed with a sharp weapon believed to be a knife.

"The victim was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for treatment, and her condition is reported to be stable," he said in a statement today.

He said the police are still investigating, and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
