Cattle theft in modified Proton Wira foiled in Raub, four nabbed

RAUB: Four men attempted to steal and force two cows into a modified Proton Wira Aeroback, here, at a cattle farm in Felda Krau 4 early morning last Saturday (Jan 6).

Failing to accomplish their mission, the cattle rustlers who had removed the car's back seat to accommodate the animals, were making an escape when they ran out of luck.

The car crammed with six "occupants" skidded during a high-speed car chase with a group of cattle breeders.

The incident unfolded at about 3am on Jan 6 when a group of cattle breeders who were patrolling the cattle farms near an oil palm plantation in Felda Krau 4 spotted the Proton car.

Raub police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abd Rahman said the car was parked by the roadside and the group of breeders had approached the vehicle.

"Upon noticing the breeder's arrival, the driver suddenly accelerated the car towards the Mempaga-Lebu main road. A high-speed car chase ensued before the suspect's car skidded near the Mempaga night market site.

"Four suspects aged between 23 and 31 years old travelling in the Proton were detained. Three of them were detained at Raub police headquarters while the fourth suspect was taken to

Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh due to injuries resulting from the accident.

"Three of the suspects were tested positive for drugs and have been remanded till Jan 9 under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft," he said in a statement today.

Shahril said the cattle owner who had gone to the accident spot after being alerted by a friend lodged a police report after he realised the stolen cows belonged to him based on their special ear markings.
