Seremban father who beat and left daughter with 12 stitches now faces rape charge [NSTTV]

SEREMBAN: The father of a teenage girl, who had brutally beaten his daughter resulting in 12 stitches for her head wounds, is now facing charges of raping the 16-year-old in November last year.

The 47-year-old man appeared in the Sessions Court today, where he will face charges under Section 376 (3) of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum of eight years and a maximum of 30 years in prison and also allows for a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty before Judge Datin Surita Budin after the charges were read in court by an interpreter.

According to the charge sheet, the man was accused of raping his daughter when she was 16 at the time of the incident.

The offence took place on Nov 12 last year at a house in Kampung Kendong Baru Kota, Rembau.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Goh Hsiao Tung did not offer bail, considering the victim is the accused's biological daughter, and if granted bail, there is a fear of interference with the victim.

The accused, in his appeal, apologised and stated that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident, leading to his misconduct.

Surita did not grant bail and set March 6 for the next hearing and the appointment of a lawyer.

Earlier, Harian Metro reported that a teenage girl was assaulted by her father using various objects, resulting in 12 stitches on her head, and she was rushed to Tampin Hospital.

The incident was believed to have occurred because the father was dissatisfied with the victim's actions in complaining to his female companion.
