Man throwing beer mugs at patrons in JB pub altercation among 11 arrested by cops [Watch]

JOHOR BARU: Police have detained 11 patrons, including one woman, for allegedly being involved in a disturbance at a pub in Taman Sutera Utama on Sunday.

The incident came to public attention when a three-minute-two-second video of the altercation surfaced on TikTok under the account handle 'sathan1106'.

The video depicts several men shoving each other, accompanied by the screams of a woman in Tamil. Additionally, a man who appeared visibly intoxicated can be seen hurling beer mugs at other patrons, while others, including the woman, attempt to restrain him.

Though no physical brawl ensued, the footage shows the men pushing and pulling each other from inside the pub to its dining area, and nearly onto the pavement outside.

Throughout the three-minute video, the woman's screams persist.

Johor Baru (North) police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh confirmed the arrest of 11 patrons, aged between 22 and 33, to aid in investigations.

According to him, the altercation occurred around midnight on Sunday, with police notified approximately 40 minutes later. However, the statement released today did not disclose whether the patrons were intoxicated.

Police have obtained a three-day remand order to detain the 11 suspects, including the woman, for investigation under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment or a fine, or both.

Balveer Singh urged members of the public with information on the case to contact Investigating Officer Inspector Masran Asiman at 013-854 3148.
