BATU PAHAT: A factory worker's drifting stunt turned disastrous when his Toyota Supra crashed into a parked vehicle in Jalan Desa Botani 1, Taman Botani, yesterday.

The incident was caught on camera and the video has quickly gone viral on social media.

Acting district police chief Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said, following the incident, police conducted an investigation and successfully apprehended the man at 1.15pm the same day.

He said the arrest was made after the video clip went viral, having been uploaded and shared by the suspect on Facebook.

"The Batu Pahat district Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department identified a viral video on Facebook showing footage of a car being driven dangerously while performing drifts.

"The suspect's actions led to a collision with another vehicle that was parked at the scene.

"Based on information and further investigation, police successfully identified the driver and the vehicle involved.

"A urine test on the suspect yielded negative results for drugs. Apart from arresting the suspect, we also seized his car for investigation," he said.

Police are investigating the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

The man will be brought before the Batu Pahat magistrate's court today for police to obtain a remand order to detain him for further investigation.
