Two detained for allegedly submitting false documents in RTK 2.0 application

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territory Immigration Department (JIM WPKL) has detained two local individuals for allegedly submitting false documents for the Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0 (RTK 2.0) application.

JIM WPKL said the individuals involved were a woman, believed to be a company director, and a man who acted as the company's manager.

It said they were detained during an operation involving four officers raiding the company premises located in Desa Petaling, here, on Wednesday.

"The company is engaged in agricultural activities and has submitted a fake land grant to obtain approval quotas for foreign workers under the RTK 2.0 Programme.

"This attempt was sniffed out by officers from the RTK 2.0 Workforce Team during document reviews conducted before the approval quota was granted by the JIM WPKL Foreign Worker Division.

"The application for foreign workers in the plantation sector was successfully thwarted due to the proactive initiative of immigration officers at JIM WPKL, who scrutinised the authenticity of land grants and documents attached to the application," it said in a statement today.

It said the individuals were believed to have committed offences under Section 56(1)(k) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for an attempt from the company director to obtain a Pass for another person (foreign worker) by making false statements and Section 56(1A)(c) of the same act for conspiring or participating in a criminal conspiracy to commit any offense under this act.

JIM WPKL also called for employers, who have registered undocumented migrants, to complete the verification process at the RTK 2.0 office.

"This is to enable the issuance of temporary work permits without waiting until the last minute and to avoid any difficulties.

"Employers are responsible for ensuring that all documents submitted during the application process are genuine and obtained from document issuing agencies and not through agents or third parties.

"JIM WPKL will not compromise in enforcing the law to ensure the sovereignty and security of the nation are preserved," it said.
