17 roads in KL to be closed on Sunday for OCBC Cycle event

KUALA LUMPUR: Seventeen roads in the federal capital will be closed in stages on Sunday for the OCBC Cycle event.

City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said the closures will take place between 6am and 9.30am along the 42km-long route.

"Among the roads involved are the entire length of Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka); Jalan Kinabalu both ways and Jalan Kuching, both ways, starting from Jalan Sultan Ismail to the Dato Onn roundabout.

"Other roads to be closed are Jalan Raja Laut from the Jalan Tun Perak junction till Jalan Sultan Ismail, and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from the Jalan Sultan Ismail junction to the Jalan Tun Perak junction.

"Others are Jalan Tun Perak from Jalan Tun HS Lee to Jalan Parlimen; Jalan Lebuh Ampang; Jalan Munshi Abdullah and Jalan Dang Wangi," he said in a statement today.

Allaudeen said the 110 policemen from the Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department will be on duty during the event.

"They will be aided by 30 traffic wardens from Kuala Lumpur City Hall. Police advise people to use public transportation such as the Mass Rapid Transit and Light Rail Transit train systems and e-hailing services.

"Avoid travelling on the affected roads if possible and, if you do use them, adhere to instructions from the police on duty at the time so that we can have smooth flow," he said.
